Vice Vice Captain Interview – Ali “I Love It” Chan

It’s a new year and a new season, so let’s ask Windy Panda’s New Vice Vice Captain Ali “I Love It” Chan a few questions…

Q: Describe yourself in three words.
A: reliable, outgoing and bubbly

Q: Your Favourite all time film?
A: Chow Yun Fat – God of Gamblers

Q: You’re marooned on a dessert island, what 3 essential items would you take with you?
A: Water, camera and shades

Q: What was your first job?
A: Child labour at parents restaurant www.easternpalace.com (I’m not advertising)

Q: How did you first join the Pandas? Do you remember your first impressions?
A: Chubby Cheeks told me about DB towards the end of G3 season, ended up going to the WP first international event in HK and now poisoned with the panda bug. First impression – what the hell did I get myself into? Timing, twist, arms straight, kick – WTF?  >.<

Q: Remember your first race?
A: Fairlop Water Rotary where the pandas won our first gold – I must be the lucky charm =)

Q: …and your first dunk?
A: Oh yes – Mr Alan Alam Lam pushed me in! 4th June, remember the date pandas =p

Q: Why do you think you are still paddling for the Windy Pandas?
A: Because I Lovin’ It!

Q: The squad is getting bigger every year, why do you think other people want to join WP?
A: We’re good looking, we’re fun, we’re cuddly, we’re loud, we know how to enjoy ourselves! You’re not going to find this kind of bonding, friendship and teamwork anywhere else!

Q: According to your definition of success, how successful do you think WP have been so far?
A: 5 years into our 6th and still going strong – what else can you say?

Q: Back to your role this season. Why did you decide to take up the Vice Captain role?
A: Because it meant to be easy? Nah, I’m here to keep the boys under control innit =p

Q: What are you going to bring to the Windy Pandas in 2013?
A: I want the panda philosophy to continue – having fun, enjoy ourselves and creating a strong friendship bond. I’ll bring passion and enthusiasm to the team and I’ll set a good example too

Q: Tell me about the worst moment of your WP career?
A: Not making the final in the Worthing event with a very strong panda team ¬.¬  and paddling in the canels at Hackney with tones of random things floating in the water =(

Q: ..and the best?
A: Winning the Lion’s 2012 event not once but twice!! I can watch the video again and again… “you can see the Windy Pandas in their panda head gears…..blah blah blah’’ and off course, the two international events are my greatest highlights.

Q: Any advice to upcoming G6′s or any newbies looking to join?
A: Just have fun. There’s always a lot to learn and to take in when you first join but take it slowly and enjoy the experience. There’s always room for improvement and no one is prefect. Always take comments and feedback as a way to improve and to better yourself. I want to see smiles and tears of joy

Q: What does your nickname come from or has any special meaning?
A: I Love It and I’m Lovin’ It? I think it speaks for itself

Q: Finally, if a film was made about your life, which famous actor would play you and why?
A: Angelina Jolie because she has a heart of gold and she’s pretty unique
